Privacy Policy

Restwell has no accounts and no server. Your sleep data — every night, every recording, every score — is stored on your iPhone and is never uploaded to us, because there is nowhere to upload it to.
The short version
- There is no sign-up and no account. We do not know who you are.
- Your sleep history lives in a database on your phone.
- Audio recorded overnight stays on your phone and is deleted automatically after seven nights.
- There is no analytics, no tracking and no advertising of any kind in the app.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data, because we never receive it.
What Restwell records, and where it goes
| What | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | To hear movement, snoring and breathing while you sleep, which is how sleep is detected when the phone is not on the mattress. | Analysed on your phone. Never transmitted. |
| Short audio recordings | So you can play back snoring and hear it yourself. | Stored on your phone, at most five short clips a night, deleted automatically after seven nights. Never transmitted. |
| Motion sensor | To detect movement through the mattress. | Analysed on your phone. Never transmitted. |
| Sleep results | Your nights, scores and statistics. | A database on your phone. Included in your own iPhone backup if you use one. |
| Apple Health (optional) | To read sleep your Apple Watch recorded, and optionally write Restwell's nights back. | Stays on your device, inside Apple Health. Restwell does not copy it anywhere else. |
| Settings and reminders | Your alarm, sleep goal and preferences. | On your phone. |
About the microphone. Restwell listens throughout the night while tracking. Most of what it hears is measured and immediately discarded — only a level reading is kept, and only a few short clips containing snoring are saved. Audio never leaves your phone, is never sent to us, and is never used to identify you or anything you say.
Notifications
Restwell can send you one wind-down reminder a night, if you turn it on. These are scheduled locally by your phone. Restwell does not use push notifications, does not register a push token, and has no way to send you anything remotely.
The only things that leave your phone
Two, and neither carries your sleep data.
Purchases — RevenueCat and Apple
If you subscribe, the purchase is handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier and your App Store receipt. It does not receive your name, your email address, or any sleep data, because Restwell does not have them. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
App updates — Expo
Restwell checks for app updates using Expo's update service. That check sends basic technical information about the app version and device type so the right update can be returned. It carries no personal or sleep data. Their privacy policy is at expo.dev/privacy.
What Restwell does not do
- No analytics or usage tracking software of any kind.
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party ad networks.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
- No collection of your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- No location tracking.
Your data is yours
- Export it. Settings → Your data → Export my sleep history writes every night to a file you keep. It is readable without Restwell and explains its own format.
- Delete a night. Any individual night can be deleted from its own screen.
- Delete everything. Deleting the app removes the database and every recording from your phone. There is nothing held anywhere else to request the deletion of.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct or erase on request. Everything is already in your hands.
Children
Restwell is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
